I’ve been very lucky to have some amazing interns helping me out at MLPR and Debora has been one of the best, so I’ve asked her to share her working week! Love Marie Louise x
Hi, I’m Debora Olie and I’m studying Business Studies at the University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands and as part of my degree I’m doing my internship abroad at MLPR, learning the ropes of Fashion PR, Influencer marketing and social media (mainly Instagram).
I’m now in my second month and no workday is ever the same! From organising London Fashion Week tickets, getting celebrities to wear our clients clothes to attending launches and helping Marie Louise with her Instagram account @MrsMLMode, it’s been so much fun! We are working with a range of gorgeous fashion brands like Madeleine Thompson cashmere, CARAT* London jewellery and Eberjey so I have to juggle many tasks. One of my favourites is making fashion trend look books for our clients and helping with the monthly reports which I enjoy as they showcase our great work and it always feels like a sense of achievement at the end of the month.
Influencer marketing and Instagram is really key to my role and also to MLPR. Marie Louise is an established influencer and also has a blog called The F Club, so part of the role is taking her outfit pictures, and organising invitations to different press launches. I even get to go with her which is amazing. We had so much fun at the Batiste dry hair shampoo launch last week and I’ve attended a number of influencer talks, and shop openings.
On a day to day, I help with sending out press releases and organising all the press sample send outs which need to be done really carefully. My favourite thing so far has been getting tickets for the both of us for London Fashion Week shows and I even got to go to so quite a few. I helped out at the Designer Showrooms during London Fashion week and even had a personal invite for a breakfast launch with my own personal name place!
On a Friday afternoon when its sunny we often go to Notting Hill to shoot Marie Louise for her Instagram @MrsMLMode– so my photographer skills and film editing have really developed during my internship as well. I’m doing my university project on Influencer marketing and as part of this role I have met lot of influencers, which is really interesting and great for research. I also helped Marie Louise to organize this Instagram Influencer lunch for her Instagram friends, which was really fun.
I think working for a small company like MLPR is a huge advantage. There are only four of us – Marie Louise, Sarah (fashion PR), Matthew (the Creative Director) and Piper (ha ha, the office dog) I get to work 1-on-1 with Marie Louise and am learning so much (even how to blog!). She gives lots of important tasks and because I’m her only intern, we have built a a great bond with each other and that makes the work much more fun.
I’m really looking forward to the upcoming months. Next up Marie Louise is hosting a Instagram training clinic for 40 businesses, I will be organising the SS19 press day event and with Christmas around the corner, we are now working on creating look books for the Christmas Gifts. Scroll down for some picture highlights of me at MLPR!
